It explains how the Kashmir issue was the inevitable result of the ruthless British policies to satisfy their imperial interests in the Indian sub-continent, and of the utter ineptitude and political naiveté of eminent Indian leaders of undivided India in rising to the challenge. The book describes the British politics during the freedom struggle in colonial India that culminated in the partition of the sub-continent to create a 'Pakistan' friendly to the British. The book details how it was in line with such politics that the Kashmir problem was deliberately created and sustained by the British, and intended by the British to remain the end product of the British Raj. The Kashmir issue later assumed its present dimensions due to Pakistan's persistent efforts, India's habitual bungling as also the political expediency of the UNSC and the international community. In the process, it is the people across the Indian sub-continent who continue to be taken for a ride. While the festering Kashmir issue has contributed immensely to the rise in international terrorism, it was the British, and later American, policy on Kashmir that created a conducive environment for such terrorism"--Provided by publisher.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="610" ind1="2" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">United Nations</subfield><subfield code="x">History</subfield><subfield code="y">20th century.</subfield><subfield code="9">8127</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Jammu and Kashmir (India)</subfield><subfield code="x">History</subfield><subfield code="y">20th century.</subfield><subfield code="9">8128</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Jammu and Kashmir (India)</subfield><subfield code="x">History</subfield><subfield code="y">21st century.</subfield><subfield code="9">8129</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Jammu and Kashmir (India)</subfield><subfield code="x">Politics and government.</subfield><subfield code="9">263</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Jammu and Kashmir (India)</subfield><subfield code="x">History</subfield><subfield code="x">Autonomy and independence movements.</subfield><subfield code="9">8130</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">India</subfield><subfield code="x">History</subfield><subfield code="y">Partition, 1947</subfield><subfield code="x">Influence.</subfield><subfield code="9">8131</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Great Britain</subfield><subfield code="x">Foreign relations</subfield><subfield code="y">20th century.</subfield><subfield code="9">8132</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">United States</subfield><subfield code="x">Foreign relations</subfield><subfield code="y">20th century.</subfield><subfield code="9">8133</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="906" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="a">7</subfield><subfield code="b">cbc</subfield><subfield code="c">orignew</subfield><subfield code="d">1</subfield><subfield code="e">ecip</subfield><subfield code="f">20</subfield><subfield code="g">y-gencatlg</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="942" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="2">udc</subfield><subfield code="c">BK</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="952" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="0">0</subfield><subfield code="1">0</subfield><subfield code="2">udc</subfield><subfield code="4">0</subfield><subfield code="6">9545461_HIN</subfield><subfield code="7">0</subfield><subfield code="9">31483</subfield><subfield code="a">CSSSC</subfield><subfield code="b">CSSSC</subfield><subfield code="d">2018-03-29</subfield><subfield code="l">1</subfield><subfield code="o">954(546.1) HIN</subfield><subfield code="p">G-6114</subfield><subfield code="r">2019-08-28 00:00:00</subfield><subfield code="s">2019-08-28</subfield><subfield code="w">2018-03-29</subfield><subfield code="y">BK</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="955" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="b">rf14 2016-01-29</subfield><subfield code="c">rf14 2016-01-29 telework; NAR for author done (the correct middle initial is M as on t.p., not N as on data view)</subfield><subfield code="a">xn11 2016-10-03 1 copy rec'd., to CIP ver.</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="999" ind1=" " ind2=" "><subfield code="c">28538</subfield><subfield code="d">28538</subfield></datafield></record></collection> |
